Our Walker

Here's a short video of Zeke walking. He's a very cautious walker, preferring to hold a hand or furniture. We're in no big hurry to send him running around the house, as it means a lot more running for us too!

Karine and Tom NOT in Honduras

In June, we will be making a little change to our blog. Karine and Tom in Honduras will need to be changed to Karine and Tom in Omaha, Nebraska! After many thoughtful discussions, we reached a very difficult decision, and are happy to announce that we will be making a new home in Omaha, NE.

Honduras has been a fantastic home to us for the past 2 and a half years. We will, of course, finish the school year here and then say goodbye to our tropical home. There will be hundreds of people and things we will greatly miss. In our last few months here, we'll be sure to take note of them and share with the blogosphere.

We have decided to go back to the U.S. ultimately to be closer to family. We want Ezekiel to get to know his cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, great-aunts, great-uncle, and great friends back home. Plus, we've missed spending time with our families and we're excited to be able to rejoin them for family gatherings and frequent visits.

Currently, we do not have jobs, but we've got a few leads... If Tom can't get the job as Tourism Director for the city of Omaha, I'm sure something else just as exciting will turn up for us!

Back Blogging

I'm a little behind the times in getting some posts up. I wanted to keep them in date order (for someday in the future when I depend on this blog to serve as a scrapbook of sorts).

Anyway- if you want to visit some of my older new posts...

Zeke's First Birthday Cake

Party Time!

On Saturday, we hosted Zeke's First Birthday Party. He invited 16 kids (ages 6 months to 15 years old) and 11 adult guests come over to help celebrate this monumental day. Even though it rained, we took advantage of our big front porch and still had plenty of space for fun.

The party was a blast for everyone! The littlest ones enjoyed crawling around on Zeke's mat and playing with toys there.

The medium ones enjoyed the tunnel and all of Zeke's wheeled toys in the house.

The big kids were great helpers and kept tabs on the younger kids while the adults got to visit. The adults enjoyed jambalaya and "adult cake" while the kids ate cupcakes and pizza.

Everyone enjoyed the piñata- well almost everyone...

Ezekiel was so happy when we brought home the Big Red Dog piñata earlier this week. He is really into dogs right now, so he loved this one! He'd gingerly touch the nose and say "dog" all week long.

When piñata time came around at the party, Zeke refused to hit it with the special stick (kids go from youngest to oldest).

When the first few kids started whacking at his prized dog with a big stick, Zeke was horrified! He cried and cried, not understanding why his favorite new dog was being attacked by his friends. Luckily, his friend Stephanie tried to distract him.

After almost 4 hours of fun, our guests had gone and Zeke was exhausted. It was a great day!

Happy 1st Birthday Party, Zeke!

First Birthday Cake

We celebrated on Zeke's actual birthday with a little family party- Mom, Dad, and Zeke. We all liked the cake!

YUMMY!!!

1 Year Old

Happy Birthday Ezekiel!

Today Zeke turns one year old. We are so amazed at all that has happened for our family this past year. Zeke has brought so much joy to our lives and we are so thankful he was born.

12 Months Later!

Zeke ate cake today and took some steps- he's been a walker for almost 2 weeks!
Ezekiel loves dogs- especially Ruby! He can say "dog" as well as many other words like "go, more, mama, dad, and that " He loves to read books, play with cars, chase our dog around the house, and play with his BFF and nanny, Belkis. Zeke adores other kids and wants to talk to and touch any new friend that will have him. He's so friendly and happy- and the people of Honduras LOVE him! (And I'm sure the people in the U.S. will too!)

We will celebrate with some of his half-pint friends and their families this Saturday. We've already picked up the big red dog piñata, and we're practicing hitting things (not people) with the stick.

Unfortunately, the camera uploader cord is missing. When I find it, I'll upload all of the great pictures we've been taking. This should happen within the next several days- I promise!
